The UACJ has
organized previously, four successful conferences with the
general themes of: “User Information Skills in Higher Education
Institutions” and “The User Instruction Before the New
Educational Models” on the first two ones.
On the third conference, a great progress was achieved on
integrating a set of standards for evaluating informational
competencies of Mexican university students.
On the fourth, held on October of 2004 under the title “Towards
Info Lit Programs Implementation”, participants discussed about
how to work side by side with other members of the academic
community, with the aim of preparing information literate
students, with the competencies that will empower them to be
more successful students and professionals.
Besides the benefits that the exchange of information these
events provided, there have been three books published with the
best papers presented, and two statements with the help of the
participants, collaborating this way to the impulse of the
educational programs of information users in Mexico and other
countries.
With the
contribution of speakers, and the feedback of the audience, it
is expected to have a better understanding of topics like:
- Usefulness of evaluations
- Shared responsibilities when
evaluating
- Librarians as instructors
- Main theories on educational
evaluation
- Context that determines forms
of evaluation
- Evaluation methods and
techniques
